The Start of Something New

A few months ago, my husband (Caleb) and I found an incredible deal on Google flights. Two nonstop tickets from Oakland to Barcelona for $200. The only hitch? They were one-way tickets and return tickets were still fairly expensive at the time.

While we have traveled to a number of countries in Europe, some of the most popular destinations like Spain & Italy remained unchecked on our list. Now was our chance. We booked the tickets and decided to worry about the return plan later.

Fast forward a few months and here I sit in a cottage in the Swiss Alps. There are cows & horses roaming literally 20 feet from me as I type this post. A lot has happened between this moment and the moment we bought those plane tickets to Barcelona:

Caleb and I traded in our insanely expensive rental in Redwood City, California for a home in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We bought a house that was twice the size & half the monthly cost.

We renovated our new home and quickly found out how successfully it could generate revenue as an Airbnb property (in addition to serving as our primary residence).

Caleb graduated from his MBA program and was ready for his next adventure. I quit my job of four years, also ready for my next adventure.

We convinced 9 of our closest friends to take advantage of ticket prices to Barcelona — and that’s where the story begins.

So far on this trip, we have traveled through Spain, Andorra, France, Monaco & Switzerland, and have 3 months of adventure to go as we travel the world. In this blog we will recount our journeys, share tips, and provide recommendations from our experiences.

Caleb and I love food, the outdoors, beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, serene lakes, sleepy little towns, the occasional vibrant city, unique experiences, and food…Did I say food twice? hmmm mmm anyways…

We write this blog for the traveler who loves all of these things as well.  The traveler who allots room for serendipity.  The traveler who has a financial budget, but no budget on experience.  The traveler who loves good food and good drinks.

Come wander with us!
